Vicks Germ Free Humidifier

554929_rawI was recently given the chance to review the Vicks Germ Free Humidifier and it couldn’t have come at a better time.  I have been sick with a horrible Sinus Infection for three months, and I’m most likely going to have surgery because of it.

Lying in bed each night, I’d wake with a horribly sore throat from breathing with my mouth open.  Each night before bed, I’d slather myself in Vicks Vapo Rub and plug in my Vapor Plug, but my throat was still very sore in the morning.
When I saw the Vicks Germ Free Humidifier, I was thrilled.  We had a humidifier before, but in the most recent move had broken it.  With this season going the way it was, I knew we’d need another one in the house.
This humidifier is easy to set up.  With 2 tanks, you get about 24 hours of continuous operation and it comes with two de-mineralization pads — one of which is already installed under the nozzle.   Perfect for medium to large rooms like I have in my house, you can control the level of humidity you’d like to put out.
My husband likes a steady sound when we sleep, so we set the humidifer to a lower setting and just have the gentle hum of the machine to listen to.  If you crank it all the way up, it sounds like a babbling brook or light rain with the water boiling.
Unlike other heating vaporizers, the Vicks Germ Free Humidifier doesn’t shoot up large puffs of steam, making me feel more comfortable having it set up in my kids rooms when they’re sick.  The last thing I need to worry about with a sick kid is the danger of them getting burned by steam (although the box and instructions do warn to watch out for hot parts).
At the top you’ll find a small medicene cup to be used with Vicks VapoSteam or Kaz Inhalant liquids that will add a touch of menthol in the air to help you breathe better.  I use that function when I’m using it for myself, but don’t want any medicene available to my children when I’m not in the room, so with them I plug in one of the Vicks Soothing Vapor Plugs to help release menthol in the air.
The price runs at about $90.00 and can be found at most major stores.  With it’s simple to use operation and long lasting tanks, I’d say the Vicks Germ Free Humidifier is just what families need during this brutal winter season.
