Review: The RADIUS Intelligent Toothbrush

My husband has a thing about brushing his teeth. He loves to be told how long they should be brushed.  We have a toothbrush that turns off automatically but it doesn’t specify how long each section of the mouth should be brushed.  I however, have a REALLY weird thing about teeth.  I can’t stand being around someone who does it and I can’t look at myself while brushing, I have the water running while I do and I also have to have an electronic one to further block out the sound.  To me, the sounds of brushing teeth gives me goosebumps and is like nails on a chalkboard.  Totally unrelated to this review, but I knew there’d come a time when I’d mention that quirk and this happens to be the time.

So check this out. With a built in 2-minute timer and 30-second quadrant timer to help you comply with recommended brush time and technique, the RADIUS Intelligent manual toothbrush guides people to brush for the appropriate time as recommended by the American Dental Association. Included is a 3-month wear meter to signal time for a new replaceable head, and the smart non-slip re-usable handle reduces waste by 93% and is guaranteed for 4 years.

That is awesome.

First of all, I love the name.  It’s intelligent, so I know it’s way smarter than my husband who has already stated to me he likes the timer our automatic toothbrush has.  I say that (mostly) in jest, but it’s true and I love that I just got to say “in jest” and hope I used it in the appropriate context.

Here’s a little tidbit of information for you – statistics from the Academy of General Dentistry show that men are much “less likely than women to seek preventive dental care,” and that “men are also more likely to develop oral and throat cancer and [gum] disease.”

RADIUS (www.RadiusToothbrush) is known for making hip, ergonomically friendly toothbrushes, which builds in designs that are long lasting, sustainable and place far less pressure on the gums, for a smarter, more efficient clean.

So now instead of using his automatic “free for all” toothbrush that just tells him he needs to brush for two minutes without giving him any brushing to direct it to, he can use his new RADIUS manual toothbrush’s built in 2-minute timer and 30-second quadrant timer and make sure he gets all all the tooth cleaning his mouth needs.

Now I want one, too.  I have included the specific details of the RADIUS Intelligent Manual Toothbrush found on their website below-

Features:

2 minute timer — toothbrush beeps once and green light flashes once every 30 sec. to 2 minutes.
90 Day wear meter – after 180 uses the light changes to red to indicate time to check bristle wear. Depressing the button for 5 seconds resets the meter to zero.
Lightweight unbreakable replacement heads made from surgical-grade nylon.
Dramatically increases softness and efficacy of brushing with 65% more bristle tufts than ordinary toothbrush.
Reversible for both Right or Left handed brushing – Available in soft or medium bristles.
Handle lasts forever – the head can be discarded as you would a razor blade!
KID FRIENDLY! Great for children 6 years and above.
