Parents Look-At-Me Camera

Wondering what to get your child for Christmas?  Think about heading over to Target and checking out the line of toys brought to you by Parents Magazine.  The philosophy at Parents is ‘When the toy does less. the child does more’ and I couldn’t agree more.

My kids are the only in the family right now.  They are therefore overloaded with toys.  We have toys that beep, move and hurl objects.  Blasters, computers, a full size arcade Basketball set.  My boys have it all.  What are their favorites?

Well, let’s see.  Basically, think of any toy we played with as a kid.  Those are the ones my kids love.  There’s a reason they’ve stood the test of time.  Less does more.  The Etch a Sketch?  Jake loves it.  The baby rattle I had 30 (shudder) years ago?   My 8 month old is happily smashing it right now.

We often complain how ‘We didn’t have these when we were kids’, but even though my kids have it all, they’re most content with the basics.  Imagination is everything.  When I opened the box from Team Mom and saw the Parents Look-At-Me Camera, I was thrilled.  My 3 year old went insane.

As soon as he saw the box he started jumping up and down.  The toy is suggested for ages 12+ months, but it’s obvious it can be enjoyed all the way to 3 and a half.  I brought the camera out and sat it between my 8 month old and 3 year old and they both went for it at once.

Most kids pick up a toy and discard it 15 minutes later.  Jake had this camera in hand for about 4 hours.  I was taking pictures of the boys for Christmas that day and Jake loved that he could as well.   Joshua, my 8 month old, was as happy as can be.

The realistic shutter sound and disco soundtrack kept Jake moving throughout the house, making everyone in his path stop and pose (including the hamster).  He took pictures of me taking pictures.  It was nice to be able to get my own camera out to get my Holiday pictures done and not have to fight with him when he’s asking to use it.

Retailing about $15 and available exclusively at Target, you really can’t go wrong with this toy.  It inspires creativity and fun while allowing your child to feel grown up alongside you.  You can rest easy knowing you’re choosing well when you choose a product from Parents!
