Leslie Patricelli’s Children’s Books

leslie-patricelli

I love to read and was brought up to appreciate a book and expect my children to do the same.  We read constantly and when Team Mom introduced two books from author and illustrator Leslie Patricelli, my oldest son wanted to sit down for an immediate read.

Higher! Higher!, priced at about $15.99 and appropriate for ages 2-5 was perfect for my 4 year old son.  The sky’s no limit in this witty picture book about a child on a swing and the wonders of imagination.  While the book has few words, the pictures depict the happiness of being pushed in a swing.

Baby Happy Baby Sad is for the younger ages of 1 to 3 years and is suggested to retail at about $6.99.  It’s a playful look at a pair of emotions we see with our babies daily.  This is a colorful board book that kept my 12 month old enraptured.

Leslie Patricelli is the author and illustrator of seven different bright and engaging children’s board books and full-length picture books.  They all star a diaper-clad baby giving a fresh take on everyday life and demonstrate opposites like big and little, quiet and loud and yummy and yucky.

I”ve never heard of these books. My girls are way too old for them. I love that you said they have few words and that the pictures depict the story. I always loved those type of books for the girls. It was so fun seeing what they thought the story was about!
