Two Must Haves On Road Trips. Trust Me, I Know

Winsheild Wonder and Jupiter Jack

Before I start writing this review, I have to confess something most of you already know.  I am OBSESSED with infomercials.  Like in an unhealthy, twisted way.  It’s been a dream of mine to one day star in my own infomercial, and I even have the product I want to create and promote in mind, I just don’t have the time or or skill to do either.

That is not the reason I’m reviewing these two products.  I actually didn’t even realize these products had the awesome “As Seen On TV” label because I had my friend open the package for me (I’m not a good package opener, I’m the most uncoordinated person on earth and if I tried, destruction would ensue).

The reason I opted to try these products is because I travel A LOT.  Every few months, I’ll put my two kids in the car and drive 12 hours from SC to NY through the night.  My hope is that they’ll sleep but it doesn’t always happen.  If plane tickets are cheap enough, I go that route but flying with a toddler is a NIGHTMARE and at least he’s locked in place in my car.

While some of the states I drive through allow us to talk on our cell phones, it’s just not safe to do and I don’t feel comfortable doing it with kids in the car.   That’s why when I was offered the Jupiter Jack to review, I figured I’d give it a whirl.

I have to admit, it’s a pretty neat idea.   To quote their description-

The Jupiter Jack™ is a great gift for anyone in the family.  It is an easy-to-use cell phone accessory that turns a car radio into a hands free phone. Designed to work with any phone or car, just plug the Jupiter Jack into the place where you would normally plug in a pair of headphones, tune your radio to 99.3 FM and start talking. The Jupiter Jack retails at an MSRP of $10.00 and you can find out more information at their website here:  www.jupiterjack.com

That’s exactly what I did.  It was that easy to do.  The only issue I had is that there is nowhere to mount my cell, so I think I’d have to get some sort of adhesive or something to secure my cell in place, because I noticed if I put my cell in my lap, I don’t get the reception I have when I keep it close.

Also, depending on who I’m talking to on the phone, I may not want to use it with passengers in the car.  Some conversations are best left private and I’d most likely use an earpiece instead (although I can’t STAND those.  They hurt my ears.

The second product I got to check out, which I wish I knew existed before I was offered this review (I was literally banned from watching infomercials in my household.  I have an addiction.  I once bought a “lifetime” supply of pens and lost them within a month.) was the Windshield Wonder.

THANK YOU FOR EXISTING.

I clean my windshield (no I don’t).  I wipe my dog’s nasty nose prints off the windows after he takes one of his blissful rides in the car (blatant lie). I’m not the type of passenger to kicks my flip flops off and toes the glass (I have serious issues).

Ugh.  Well, whatever.  It’s HARD.  Windshields are hard to clean.  You have to spray stuff on paper towels or the glass and try to reach every corner to get it clean but when you’re driving through the night, you can see every streak and smudge and it drives me crazy.

Enter the Windshield Wonder.  I wish I knew how to type the words that play when the light shines down from the heavens.  This product is EXACTLY what I need.  Before I profess my love for this product, I shall don unto you the product description.

The Windshield Wonder is a chemical-free way to clean and shine windshields with just plain tap water.  It combines a micro fiber cleaning cloth with a long handle and pivoting head to make windshield cleaning fast and easy. The Windshield Wonder retails at an MSRP of $9.99 and you can find out more information at their website here:   www.buywindshieldwonder.com

This puppy is so bad ass, I’d get it for all of my friends if I had any.  It’s got a 16″ handle with a pivoting head and a microfiber cloth and all that’s required from you is water to put in the spray bottle and you’re all set.  I used it and was THRILLED.  All the grime from the nose prints that never existed and my toe marks I absolutely did NOT leave came right off.

I just used this in my car on a regular day, I hate to say this – especially after the last road trip I took (It was supposed to be 12 hours and traffic made it 27 hours) – but I’m actually looking forward to my gas station stop on my next drive to Syracuse so I can get a nice clean windshield.  Driving at night is hard enough with all the truckers shining their lights on me and it turned out I need driving glasses, so this product should be a tremendous help to me!
