Once Again, First Impressions Baby Apparel Came Through For Me
I love Macy’s. They have the BEST baby gifts ever. If you’re looking for a layette, you can’t beat First Impressions. Six years ago, I found out I was pregnant with my first son. Once announced, people kept telling me I had to register for a layette set. I had absolutely NO IDEA what that meant. Even though I was married and 27, I was one of the first to get pregnant out of all my friends, so layette’s weren’t exactly something we talked about regularly.
Well then the months passed and I got to do the baby registry thing and I was happily zapping away. THAT was when I learned what a layette was.
According to First Impressions, a layette is made up of all the soft pieces your newborn needs for his or her fist days and weeks. These include:
- 6-8 Footed Coveralls
- 1 Hooded Towel
- 1 Hat
- 4-6 Convertible Gowns
- 4-6 Blankets
- 1 Robe
- 4-6 pair of pants
- 3 Take me home sets
- 9-12 bodysuits
It’s your basic set for everything you’re going to want to have around when your little one comes into your life. After we rest up for the few days spent in the hospital (maternity wards ROCK), we get to take our new bundle of joy home. Before we get ready to go, the hospital photographer offers to take a picture. THAT is when we rock the layette. We bring out the tiny little body suit and pull on the cute little pair of pants and swaddle them in a blanket and BAM! We have an awesome amount of baby cuteness to proudly display on our mantle for all of eternity. If this is your baby’s first picture taken, you’ve got to make it explode with cuteability (just made that up, let’s go with it)!
I obviously didn’t have this review for myself. I have friends and family expecting children (one just had her little boy, YAY!) so I went to First Impressions for my baby gifts. For my cousin, I got a cute yellow layette set because she wasn’t telling the sex of the baby and for my friend, I sent her the ADORABLE, super soft First Impressions gift set including an outfit from the Satin Hanger Collection, a five-piece layette set from the Everyday Value Collection and an adorable plush animal. I hear the little bear is in his cradle with him already!
The First Impressions clothing line is sold exclusively at Macy’s and they’re always running sales and shipping specials. Although they don’t come tagless, these clothes are super soft and durable. They stand up to multiple washings and have easy-to-snap buttons on the bodysuits. With the soft colors and cute designs, your baby is sure to look adorable in his/her first set of hospital pictures and you can be rest assured you’ve put your child in the highest quality fabric.

These clothes are adorable! I hope my daughter inlaw put some of them on her baby registry. Even if she didn’t I think I’m going to get foe my grandson to come.
I just had my first baby and I can’t tell you how nice it is to have the things I really need for her. My first impulse was to run out and buy everything I saw. Common sense finally prevailed and I asked my friends and family for advice. I registered with a baby registry and quickly learned what I would really need. The selection was marvelous, beautiful and practical. My friends and family loved this easy way to shop. It was a great success.
