Domino Sugar & Share our Strength’s® Great American Bake Sale to help fight childhood hunger

For the third year in a row, Domino Sugar is the presenting sponsor for Share our Strength’s® Great American Bake Sale to help fight childhood hunger. The Great American Bake Sale raises money to fight childhood hunger across the U.S. by encouraging individuals, families, organizations and schools to hold bake sales and donate the profits to help Share our Strength provide millions of meals and snacks to America’s children.

As part of this campaign, Domino provided me with a $25 gift card to buy ingredients so I can buy the ingredients I needed to bake up some delicious goodies to have at our neighborhood bake sale and since it’s just too hot to have one here in South Carolina (believe me, we tried – we had the whole thing planned out and it was so hot we couldn’t have it), I’m giving away the gift card to one of my readers so they can host a bake sale of their own!

Looking for ideas on how you’ll spend your $25 gift card to make the perfect bake sale?  You can get plenty of tips and idea for the Bake Sale Center from Domino Sugar!   They suggest that you plan your bake sale at least a month ahead. You’ll need the time to secure permission with establishments, which may involve a permit. And when planning, consider a tarp or tent if you plan on being outside in the sun all day. Not only will it keep you and your baked goods cooler, you’ll all be protected from an unexpected shower!

Domino Sugar has a wonderful website with everything you need to host a bake sale, including location ideas, information on how to promote the sale, printable signs, pricing suggestions, and of course, recipes!

Not an accomplished baker? That’s okay—look at this as an opportunity to spend time baking with your kids and teaching them the importance of helping out and giving back to those in need! Too busy to bake? No worries—you can always pick up some items at a local bakery to sell!

According to the Share Our Strength’s website, Since 2003, more than 1.7 million people have participated in Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale, raising $6 million to make sure no child in America grows up hungry. The effort has rallied some of the culinary world’s most recognized celebrities like Food Network stars and national spokespeople Sandra Lee and Duff Goldman!
