CLOSED – Win The PERFECT Personlized Gift This Holiday Season!

Talk about a perfect gift!
My mother recently came down for a visit and I just *happened* to have scheduled my tonsillectomy for the same week she was going to be here.  I know she’s always happy to help but it really just worked out great and even though no thanks was necessary, I still wanted to show my gratitude.  When I was approached by the owner of  Dakota’s Personalized Gifts and The Anniversary Rose, the perfect place for Wedding Anniversary Gifts, for a review I was thrilled but also wondering how I was going to work this one out.  The holiday season is here so I REALLY wanted to make my mom something but how could I possibly see how the gift would go over and get a great review (and giveaway!!!) up before the season ends?
This is how!   YAY OPERATION!
Sort of.
I mean it HURT like crazy but my mom got to come and help (she LOVES helping out) and I got to show my gratitude by creating the perfect gift.
I have to tell you, getting my boys (five and two) to stand still for a picture was harder than creating the frame for it!  I simply stated the names of my boys (clearly seen on the photo frame above – Jacob and Joshua) and then I requested that it be made out to “Babci & Dziadziu” which is Polish for Grandmother and Grandfather.
THAT right there made the difference.  I mean a HUGE difference.  I check out a lot of personalized gift making sites and everyone has generic things for grandparents.  All of the typical things.  You can put in the names of your children but you can’t really personalize it much further.
In the almost six years since my eldest has been born, this is the very first gift I’ve bought that I was able to completely personalize.  Typically we have to buy items and I’ll have the boys sign them to make them special but this was truly spectacular.
I waited until three days before they left to present it.  That’s a handy tip for those of you who are staying over or have someone staying to help you – give the gift about two or three days PRIOR to departure.  Typically, half way through a trip people get antsy and may feel unappreciated, especially if it involves helping someone out.  If I’m staying somewhere, I can tell they might be checking the calendar to see when my time is running out.  By presenting the gift a few days in advance, you amp up the “THIS is why this is happening” mojo and you also get to hear about how awesome the gift is for a few days before departure.  That’s an extra bonus!
I’ll give you a reenactment of how the gift presentation went -
ME: Hi Mom.  I really want to thank you for all of your help so I got you this gift
MOM: Oh, we love it here!  We wanted to come anyway!  There’s no need for a gift (…gift is being unwrapped and *GASP!*) OH, JULIE!  Look at this!  Wow!  Would you look at this?  It’s BEAUTIFUL!  How did you do that?!  It’s BEAUTIFUL!  Oh, Al!  Look at this!  Isn’t it beautiful? (He agrees) It’s just great, I LOVE IT.  Boys, look at this!  Who is this?  It’s Jacob and Joshua!  That’s right!  It’s you!  Look how handsome my boys are!  What a wonderful picture!
No joke.  It pretty much went just like that and I couldn’t have been more proud of myself or impressed at the quality and detail put into the gift.   So much so that we’ve decided to give one of my super totally super cool and awesomely rad readers a $50 gift certificate to apply at either Dakota’s Personalized Gifts or The Anniversary Rose!

Scrapblog Review and SHORT Giveaway CLOSED

scrapblog

Years back, when I had my first son, I decided to try Scrapbooking.  I bought every decorative sticker, border and paper I could find and paid a fortune printing out all the digital photos I took.  As my newborn got older, I had less time to scrapbook and by baby number two, I was done completely.

I hated the fact that I didn’t have the drive to create scrapbooks, because I always found them to be a wonderful gift to my parents around the holidays.

Then I found Scrapblog.

Scrapblog is free and signup is quick and easy. Creating an account grants you access to a ton of cool features!

  • Save, publish, and share your scrapblogs
  • Leave comments on other’s scrablogs
  • Create your own personal profile to display all your creations
  • Bookmark your favorite scrapblogs and view them at any time
  • Add other scrapbloggers to your friends list and find them easily

After registering with the site, I managed to make a great Scrapblog Photo Book in just minutes.  It’s literally all done in three easy steps.   After registering, I clicked on the “Start Creating” button and was taken to the area where your Scrapblog book can be created.  You have a few choices, you can start with a blank page and Build your own scrapblog from the ground up, start with a theme that is predesigned scrapblogs from our designers or use the option I went for and select to stat with Quick Mixx, which allows you to pick a kit and add your photos and Quick Mixx will layout all the pages for you. walmart

Every girl wants to be a princess. Walmart grants that wish. At Walmart every girl can be a princess for under $25.   Girls everywhere are talking about the new release of Disney’s The Princess and the Frog movie that comes out tomorrow, December 11 and all my friends are saying they can’t wait to take their daughters to see it.  Since I only have boys, I’m tagging along with my friends so I can feel like a princess, too!

The little things you do for the ones you love

hallmark

What are some of the little things YOU do for love?  Do you snuggle up and read to your child every night?  Surprise your wife with flowers?  Have a special routine that means a lot to your family?

Last week, my joy came out of taking my kids to the park.  Josh is just starting to walk, and seeing the gleam in his eye on the slide and swing while his older brother ran around laughing just filled me with a sense of peace and love.

My family does little things for me as well, to show their love.  Last mother’s day, I woke to a beautiful porch swing for me to rock on with my kids and a greeting card that they signed all by themselves!  Granted, the baby needed help, but it was adorable to see the little scribbles on the beautiful card showing me they care.

I’m blessed to have two wonderful little boys, and one of the most important things we do for love is to remain strong in our faith.  To love each other and to love our God, we’ve formed a wonderful family tradition of attending mass together each week and having a peaceful lunch following it.  It fills me with a sense of love and completion, knowing these little ones rely on me so much and that I could create such beautiful babies from the strong bond of love I have with my husband.

What are the little things you do for love?  I’d love to hear your stories about you and your family or friends.  Every little gesture is noticed, people truly appreciate the time taken to show that you care.  Pick up the phone, send them a card or just give them a hug to let them know you care!
