Jack and the Beanstalk DVD

“A fairy tale character who is about to flunk out of fairy tale school, Jack must perform a heroic deed by Monday or fail miserably, just like his father before him. Anxious to make good, Jack sells his C.O.W. (Computer of Wonder) for a handful of magic beans and a mysterious book that records his adventures as he’s having them. Accompanied by his sidekick Grayson — a goose who ate a bean and underwent an amazing transformation — Jack climbs the magic beanstalk to recover the fabled Harp of Destiny from the evil Giant who lives in the sky. Helping Jack on his perilous quest is the spunky Jillian, a fearless young girl whom Jack meets on his journey — and who just may have a hidden agenda.”

An update of the classic children’s tale, Jack and the Beanstalk is a live-action adventure starring an A-List cast Chloe Moretz (of Kick-Ass), Chevy Chase, Gilbert Gottfried, Christopher Lloyd, Katey Sagal, and many more!

Awarded, 4 out of 5 Doves by the Dove Foundation, and Rated G, Jack and the Beanstalk is a fun family film—with a great message, that everyone can enjoy!

When I was asked to review Jack and the Beanstalk, I said yes because I A) Completely forgot what it’s about and B) Knew it was a legendary story so my children had to watch it. :)

I LOVE guessing who’s voice I’m hearing when I watch a movie like this and with the exception of Gilbert Gottfried (nails on a chalkboard), I liked it.  It was a pretty trippy movie (dream sequence movies always trip me out and if you don’t know what that means, I have no idea how to explain that to you) but it stuck to the general storyline (I remembered it as I was watching) and I like movies that randomly burst into song.

My kids are five and two and since it’s geared towards older children, it held Jake’s attention longer than Joshua’s and it gave some subtle jokes that only an adult would get.  I’m a huge fan of Chevy Chase and Katey Segal and watch the shows they both currently star in, so that was a plus for me.

Overall, I’d say this is a good movie for your kids to check out.  Like I said, since it’s a classic fairytale we were told as kids and I think we should pass the story down on because as we grow older and the new generations are made (I think I was the Y generation because everyone is still trying to figure out why they had us *tee hee*), passing on the stories from generation to generation is something we all should remember to do.  Everything in this world is changing so fastss, we have to hold on to some of the stories that were passed down to us.

Imagination Movers – For Those About to Hop

imagination movers

That’s right.  Disney’s Imagination Movers took a little spin on the classic AC/DC tune and named their album “For Those About to Hop” and it ROCKS.

I just spent a total of 8 hours in a car with my husband and two children.  Four hours each direction to and from the beach.  In order to keep these children happy, I had to play this specific CD no less than fifteen times.  The kicker?  I didn’t mind doing it.

You can listen to one of the hits off the CD called Jungle Room by clicking on that link but I have to say my favorite song was called “Mother In You” because by the fifth time I heard it, I was laughing with my husband saying that mother’s can be smothering and we started singing “Smothering You” (without the kids around, of course) to ourselves. Professor Parrot Language CD/DVD Giveaway! CLOSED

My son is a very talkative little man, he’s already picking up songs in Polish and does fairly well at counting in both English and Spanish.   He’s nearly four and his only fault is that his mind moves fast then his mouth so he finds himself having to repeat himself as he’s trying to find the right words he’d like to say.

I was contacted by the good people at Professor Parrot, a company that has been enriching lives since 1993 with CD’s and DVD’s that can help teach your children various languages from around the world.

Co-founders Beth Huddleston and Karen Yates met in the summer of 1984 while enrolled in an innovative German class that used the Lozanov method of left brain/right brain techniques, music and puppets to teach foreign languages to adults.  This class changed their lives and subsequently led to them revolutionizing the language industry by making available a way to teach languages by exposing children at an early age.

I received a Professor Parrot Sound Beginnings 2 CD set and a Professor Parrot DVD that makes Spanish fun!  We play the CD’s each night at bedtime after Jacob gets his nightly stories and the calming words and music soothe him to sleep while helping him to learn languages like Spanish, French, German, Russian and more! Can I just say this is the CUTEST CD EVER?!

Name Your Tune is exactly as it looks, you can personalize a CD of all your favorite children’s songs with your childs name.  It can be titled any way you want it and let me tell you, it’s super exciting to watch the look of joy on your childs face when he hears his name put to his favorite songs!  I vlogged Jake singing along to one of his favorite tunes so you can see for yourself.

But first, a little about the company-

Shrek the Musical

Shrek: The Musical, based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to life on the Broadway stage.

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek.

Shrek: The Musical features a terrific score of 19 all-new songs and a cast of 27 that Newsday calls “extraordinary.” Full of big laughs, great dancing and breathtaking scenery, Shrek: The Musical is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!

Here are some song samples!

Stream “Freak Flag”
