Tea Parties For Dads & Big Rigs For Moms

THIS WOMAN IS SO HOT.  I don’t mean like just the fact that she is flawless in both body and style but she is just so friggin’ HOT!  We “met” through a media inquiry (that landed me in a magazine, AWESOME) and that inquiry led to a phone call that ended up having me tell her a HILARIOUS story I’m not ready to publish yet.

Anywho, after deciding that we were going to be friends for all of eternity, she asks if I want to read a book of hers, “The Parent Trip: From High Heels and Parties to Highchairs and Potties“.  Holy crap.  I just about peed myself.  I wrote the review of that (click that link to read it) and it made me love her more because her segment dissing the Scunci Steamer brought back memories of my adoration of the product.  That, too, is another story I should write about because I will never doubt my Steamer.

When I had the honor of meeting her in pleasure I wanted to steal her belt and kiss her face.  I know I did one of them but I can’t tell you for sure which one.

So a few weeks ago, I get a package in the mail.  I’m all like “WTF?  I didn’t know there were books coming.  I didn’t approve books coming”  like I’m SO COOL, I can do that (I am). (more…)

The Must-Have Mom Manual

must-have-mom-manualThe Must-Have Mom Manual

Everyone has advice to give from the time you conceive until your child is about 30, but who do you turn to?  How do you feel about breast feeding?  It’s not for everyone, but some books tell you it’s the way you HAVE to go.  How about that huge decision to stay at home, work from home or go back to the office?  Everyone has something to say and we all think we’re right, so where do you turn?

That’s where The Must-Have Mom Manual: Two Mothers, Two Perspectives, One Book That Tells You Everything You Need to Know comes into play.  Mothers Sara Ellington and Stephanie Triplett are best friends and former radio show hosts that have learned from each other what other parenting books might not tell you: there’s no one right way to be a mom.  (more…)

Leslie Patricelli’s Children’s Books

leslie-patricelli

I love to read and was brought up to appreciate a book and expect my children to do the same.  We read constantly and when Team Mom introduced two books from author and illustrator Leslie Patricelli, my oldest son wanted to sit down for an immediate read.

Higher! Higher!, priced at about $15.99 and appropriate for ages 2-5 was perfect for my 4 year old son.  The sky’s no limit in this witty picture book about a child on a swing and the wonders of imagination.  While the book has few words, the pictures depict the happiness of being pushed in a swing.

Baby Happy Baby Sad is for the younger ages of 1 to 3 years and is suggested to retail at about $6.99.  It’s a playful look at a pair of emotions we see with our babies daily.  This is a colorful board book that kept my 12 month old enraptured.

Leslie Patricelli is the author and illustrator of seven different bright and engaging children’s board books and full-length picture books.  They all star a diaper-clad baby giving a fresh take on everyday life and demonstrate opposites like big and little, quiet and loud and yummy and yucky.

365 Energy Boosters

Juice Up Your Life, Thump Your Thymus, Wiggle as Much as Possible, Rev Up with Red, Brush Your Body, Do a Spinal Rock, Pop a Pumpkin Seed

If you’re anything like me, the drain of winter is really dragging you down.  From the cold fronts bringing sickness to the short days draining your energy, everyone I know is down in the dumps lately, me included.

Red Wheel/Weiser recently gave me a copy of 365 Energy Boosters for me to read and have also offered a giveaway for all my readers worldwide!  In this compact 365 page book, you’ll find a different tip for everyday success.

From Red Wheel/Weiser-

Are you S.A.D.? (Suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder.) Are you one of the listless denizens sleepwalking your way through the day? Are you tired of being tired? Life demands more energy every day as we heap enough tasks on our “to do” lists to fill every waking hour and put untold amounts of pressure on ourselves to perform, to keep a spotless home, and to have the perfect relationship, the most well-behaved kids, and the best job. The constant need to be productive is wearing us out, physically and emotionally. (more…)
