CLOSED – Crayola & Perdue Chicken Giveaway! It’s AWESOME

So one day the doorbell rings and there’s my deliveryman standing there with a big old smile on his face.  He and I see each other often, as I am fortunate enough to be awesome at my job but this was a monster package.  This package was from Perdue.

Perdue, I like you.  I don’t just like you like you, I like you like you.  I had EIGHT BAGS of whole grain Perdue chicken nuggets delivered to my door.  I’m glad I have a lot of freezer space and I have to say, I don’t normally eat nuggets.  I buy them weekly because my children love them but I’ve never quite had a taste for them (unless I’m at a random fast food joint and I know I’m stuffing garbage into myself).

I LOVE THESE NUGGETS.  The first night, I made pasta and sauce.  I put the nuggets on the cool blue tray they sent along with them to use in the microwave that makes them come out crispy instead of soggy and I cut them up, mixed them with noodles and sauce and had an instant chicken parm.

I’ve made that about three times so far. (more…)

Closed: I’m Picking 10 Schools To Win 100 Wet Ones Antibacterial Wipes Travel Packs!

Parents can follow other simple tips to start the new school year off on the right foot.  Dr. Sears, renowned pediatrician and author of more than 40 books on childcare, offers the following five tips to keep students healthy, from brain to body:

1.       Begin the Day with a Brainy Breakfast: Children who start the day with a “brainy breakfast” that includes protein, fiber-filled carbs, Omega-3 fats and minerals like calcium and iron, do better in school and have fewer sick days.

2.       Keep Hands Clean: The first and easiest line of defense against the spread of germs is washing hands often, but when soap and water are not available, antibacterial wipes like Wet Ones® hand wipes are an effective alternative. Wet Ones® antibacterial wipes are proven to be just as effective as gel hand sanitizer in killing 99.99 percent of germs but they also clean away dirt and messes and won’t dry out skin like alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Keep them around the house, in lunchboxes and in pockets. (more…)

CLOSED – For healthy back-to-school lunches, meet Clif Kid snacks!

Clif Kid snacks

I’ve always been a fan of Clif Kid snacks.  I’m a hard-core anti-candy mom.  I can’t help it.  It’s not because sugar amps my kids up, it’s because my oldest son gets a feeling of entitlement when he scores some candy.  I keep it out of my house for two reasons.  For one, I’ll eat it.  I love chocolate.  Passionately.  Secondly, my kids just don’t do well with garbage.

Just the other day we were at a picnic where you could make your own sundae’s.  Ooh….ahh…I was just as bad as they were and we all paid the price.  Jacob was up in the middle of the night crying because his tummy hurt so bad.

When he was younger and had a miserable cold, he refused to eat anything so out of guilt I went to the store to see what I could get him.  I bought drinks to keep him hydrated, meds to help him and I thought maybe I could get one of those diet bars that had a candy flavor and some kind of nutrition so I at least knew he was getting something in him.
