My First Video Review-Vicks ComfortFlex Digital Thermometer

Vicks ComfortFlex Digital Thermometer with Fever InSight Feature

This is my very first Video review.  I’m sick as can be and thought it’d be a great time to check for fever.  Figuring you’d want to see how it works with a child, I also used it on the baby.  He’s been teething pretty bad and has had a stuffy nose for a few days, so when I read that he indeed had a mild fever, I have him some infant Tylenol.  I’m grateful I brought the Vicks ComfortFlex Digital Thermometer with Fever InSight Feature with me on my trip.  It’s lightweight, compact and really has been useful.  This weather up here is total crap and we’re all miserable because of it.  This has proven accurate and very helpful.  You can purchase the Vicks ComfortFlex Digital Thermometer with Fever InSight Feature  at most grocery/drug stores and it retails for about $9.48.

Please note, after watching this back I realized how stupid saying ‘I have less than a fever’ sounded, but I can only assume you know what I  meant. I was thinking ‘less than Normal’, yet those words didn’t come out.  I’m delierious with exhaustion and have been at my Mom’s in Upstate NY for 2 weeks, with a week to go.

From the Vicks Website-

Fever InSight helps you to better understand the meaning of your child’s temperature with color indicated on the display. The screen displays green if no fever, yellow when the temperature is slightly elevated and a red fever alert.

  • Faster readings; in as fast as eight seconds
  • ComfortFlex tip makes temperature taking more comfortable.
  • Professional accuracy
  • Fever InSight large backlit display changes color to indicate temperature level.
  • Oral, rectal, or underarm use
  • Memory feature recalls and displays last temperature taken.
  • Waterproof for easy, more thorough cleaning
  • Automatic shutoff to help extend battery life
  • Probe covers and storage case included
  • Lifetime warranty under normal use and battery replacement

Someone’s actually TRYING to save you money!

I am a modern Mother.  A mom of today.  A wife of a software engineer with a love for all things electronic.  With two boys, there is a multitude of toys and electronics throughout my home.

I have a pretty small family.  Lots of extended family, but as far as kids go, my 2 boys are it on both sides of immediate family.  The youngest of 4, the only sibling I have with a child is my older sister and her son (my nephew) is about to turn 20.

My husband is the older of 2 and his sister doesn’t have children.  Needless to say, my kids are SPOILED ROTTEN.  Not by us, which you could tell if you took a look at any of my posts from the Mom Dot Christmas of Dreams Party.  I don’t need to buy gifts for my kids, I can barely keep up with paying for the batteries required to operate them!

Too often, the batteries cost more than (or equal to) the toy itself.  With Swings, cars, trains, musical instruments..the list goes on.  If we want to run one toy, we’ll sometimes have to pull the batteries out of another just to get it running!

I was recently given the opportunity to put some batteries to the test.  Rayovac is confident in their products, and want consumers to be able to focus more on enjoying the product they purchased than worrying about battery cost and life. Continue Reading For More On saving you money

The Princess Bride Video Game

key_art

Yep, you read that right-there is a PRINCESS BRIDE VIDEO GAME!

When I was given the opportunity to review this game I practically jumped through my email to the lovely person on the other side offering it to hug her.  This is one of my all-time favorite movies and the fact that it’s back in a game (rated E for Everyone) warms my heart.

There are some movies that should never be forgotten and watched by every generation.  By creating The Princess Bride Video Game, the tech-savvy kids of today are gaining a new interest in watching the movie and their parents (ME!) get to take part in playing as well. Parents Look-At-Me Camera

41tokfu3ful__aa400_

Wondering what to get your child for Christmas?  Think about heading over to Target and checking out the line of toys brought to you by Parents Magazine.  The philosophy at Parents is ‘When the toy does less. the child does more’ and I couldn’t agree more.

My kids are the only in the family right now.  They are therefore overloaded with toys.  We have toys that beep, move and hurl objects.  Blasters, computers, a full size arcade Basketball set.  My boys have it all.  What are their favorites? Continue Reading For More On Parents Look-At-Me Camera

Nintendo DS Game Review- Personal Trainer: Cooking

Talk about neat.  Even if you don’t play video games, you can use your kids Nintendo DS and become a master chef!  From Nintendo-

Personal Trainer: Cooking is a training title that brings gourmet cooking from around the globe to your Nintendo DS. It features a DS Chef, your own private cooking instructor who talks you through 245+ recipes from more than 30 countries worldwide. It’s a combination of interactive cookbook and live cooking demonstration that’ll have you cooking like a pro, even if you’ve never lifted a ladle before.”

I got this game a little while ago and I was so excited.  I first went in and customized it to my tastes.  You can set the speed of the narrator to your liking.  I am not a patient woman, and if I had to listen to instructions in a slow, methodical voice I probably would have just muted it.  With Personal Trainer: Cooking, I was able to speed the voice instructions up to a pace I’m comfortable with.
